I noticed that Pitchfork had stopped linking it's reviews to insound.com and started linking them to something called "ampcamp.com." I was wondering what on earth that was, and now it's been revealed: it's Neighborhoodies new incarnation of their online music retail biz. Interesting.

Interesting that Pitchfork would play favorites with online outlets -- especially on a day when they slammed Best Buy for not being indie-conscious enough.

It seems to me that the right thing to do would be to give Pitchfork readers a choice by reinforcing the online indie community.

Not to say that InSound and Amp Camp are big-box, but it just goes to show that Pitchfork, like Best Buy and their indie partners, is a business.

Neighborhoodies is a long time advertiser on Pitchfork. I'm sure there were a few conversations with an unspoken but powerfully implied "Link to us or lose a major advertiser." Like you said...it's a business
