The new Cat Power album comes out on Tuesday! That'll be my first CD purchase of the year and I'm excited. I'm also being told that the new Liars album, Drum's Not Dead, is supposed to be pretty great, but I'll have to wait until it comes out in March to hear for myself, since I don't really download things in advance any more. Also in the pipeline is the new Built to Spill in April- the song they have posted on their myspace page is pretty great and a Perfect From Now On-esque 9+ minutes long- 5 years off may have done them some good!
What other upcoming 2006 albums should I be excited about?

Prefuse 73 - 2/7 - a return to instrumentals
OutKast - 2/14 - there's talk of a strong ragtime influence to this record. Huh?
Flaming Lips - 4/4 - finally! New single on iTunes is quality stuff.
Plus, I'm interested in some new discs that don't have street dates yet from: Ambulance LTD, Junior Boys, The Shins, The Stills and the Wrens.
The new Cat Power is ridiculously good. Just about every track on the record is amazing...very soulful.

I haven't heard a release date, but M.I.A. has been in the studio with Timbaland (!), that is going to be the fuckin bees' knees.
