Looks like the Metro falls under Chicago's new smoking ordinance, and all shows there are now smoke free!

Boo! What's next, the Metro starts booking Pat Boone shows? I don't say this often (as I consider myself one on 9 out of 10 issues), but this is liberal bullshit!

You can blow it out your arse with the "liberal" bashing. If not for liberals, we wouldn't have things like the universal suffrage, social securuty, desegregation, and something called the weekend. I'm sick and tired of it, and on this forum of all places...

Take that arch-conservative! All things considered though, I'm not sure it's an issue that breaks down along liberal/conservative lines. The best arguments against a smoking ban sound libertarian to me, and Bush has once and for all broken whatever ties libertarianism has to conservatism.

It's really just democracy, I think. Everybody hates smokers!

Considering all the hipster venues have been campaigning against the ban and I doubt you can call anyone affiliated with the Empty Bottle anything but liberal, I agree with Rob. I understand the argument against the ban, but I'm going to take the selfish route that I don't like smoking and would rather it not be around me. Also, as a fellow WLUW DJ pointed out to me, the argument that you can choose to go to a bar with smoking or not makes *some* sense, but if you want to see a band at a music venue that allows smoking, you have no choice in the matter if you want to see the band.
