Very sad Chicago local music news:
Yesterday around lunch time Doug Meis, the drummer for Exo and the Dials; John Glick, the guitarist for the Returnables; and Michael Dahlquist, the drummer for Silkworm all died in a car accident in Skokie. They were coming back to work from lunch and were hit by someone speeding.
Edit: Here's the Tribune story- apparently they were hit by a 23-year old woman going 70 mph in an attempt to kill herself.

That's a terrible story. My company does work with Shure, and I know a few people that knew these guys. They will be missed. I just don't understand the killer and what she was thinking. I guess she was not thinking.

Woman Accused of Causing Deadly Car Crash

SKOKIE, Ill. (AP) - A woman who said she "wanted to end it all" is accused of deliberately causing a high-speed crash that killed three Chicago rock musicians, authorities said.
Jeannette Sliwinski, 23, was charged with first-degree murder and was being held under guard at a hospital after she was denied bond Friday. Sliwinski, of Morton Grove, allegedly told investigators that she had been in a fight with her mother before the crash and wanted to take her own life.
"She said she wanted to end it all when she ran into the back of the car," said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Colleen Daly, adding that prosecutors might seek the death penalty.
Police said Sliwinski was driving at least 70 mph and had run three red lights when her car rammed the musicians' car at an intersection in this northern Chicago suburb Thursday.
The victims were identified as Michael Dahlquist, 39, John Glick, 35, and Douglas Meis, 29, all of Chicago. Officers said the three were on their lunch break from their day jobs at an audio equipment manufacturer and were stopped at a red light when their car was struck from behind.
Skokie police said both cars were flipped over by the impact of the crash, and the musicians' car struck another vehicle, causing two injuries.
Friends and family members said Friday that Dahlquist, who moved to Chicago from Washington state five years ago, was the drummer for a band called Silkworm. Glick, a Boston native, was a guitarist and singer with the Returnables, while Meis played drums with Glick's wife, Rebecca Crawford, in a band called The Dials.
"They were people who were so smart and brilliant and amazing," Crawford said. "Everyone feels cheated that they haven't been able to accomplish what they set out to do."

This is truly sad, I pray for the families of those lost, and as hard as it is, we must pray for her aswell...for there is a reason she was spared.
She was an exotic dancer at Heavenly Bodies in Elk Grove back in 2000-2001. I worked with her. Can't believe she did something so insane... she seemed normal.
that's like saying serial killers shouldn't be incarcerated because they mean well but they just have this overwhelming compulsion to kill other people. if her natural impulsiveness led to the death 6 people and injury of 2, she clearly can't function in normal society and should be locked in a mental hospital for the rest of her life.
not to mention without michael dahlquist, Silkworm is essentially over.
Jenette and I worked together on a few modeling jobs in 2003, and she did seem like a "normal" girl. Sure she had some issues, the modeling industry is a tough one, but who doesn't. This is such a terrible thing that has happened and my heart goes out to all the loved one's of those men so pointlessly killed. Knowing Jenette I don't believe she would have done this on purpose. I think it was a complete accident, but she was scared and made up this story of wanting to kill herself. She has done wrong and I do believe she should be punished, but I pray that the families,jury, and judge have a bit of mercy when sentencing her.My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the Sliwinski family.
