Insound.com has a weekly newsletter, and this week's features the Tinymixtapes staff's picks for the best albums of the year so far. We didn't pick these scientifically, just basically took a quick poll, but I made sure my favorite album so far, Sunset Rubdown's Shut Up I Am Dreaming made the list. All albums on the list are 15% off until July 5. Check out next week's list too, which will feature 10 of the site's favorite experimental albums so far (most of which I've never heard of, of course).

It's strange how I jump between the happy feeling that the music I listen to isn't enjoyed by many people, even free-thinking non-mainstreamers, making it feel somehow more special and disappointed that more people don't get excited about the same music. Right now I feel the latter reading that Best of The List So Far. Are the year-end lists going to populated by all those boring, adult-contemporary-of-indie-rock records?

Hmmm, I fail to see how Ghostface, Juana Molina, Liars, Nathan Fake and Josephine Foster are adult contemporary. I assume you're talking about the Sufjan Stevens section of the newsletter? :)

Well, I'll give you Ghostface. And I didn't mean they'd fit in with adult contemporary on the radio. Just that these are the Sheryl Crows and matchbox twentys of indie rock. I do like Sufjan, however. We'll call him the indie Cat Stevens.
